Familiarisation concept in the Sunneburg playgroup
A leaflet with valuable recommendations based on years of experience of our specialists, which will help the child and parents to settle in positively.
We see each child as an individual with different needs. As far as our general conditions allow, we respond to the needs of the children. It is very important to us that the child can say goodbye to the parents in a positive way. The quicker and clearer a farewell from the parents is made, the easier and more noticeable it is for the child. We have different farewell rituals like" waving at the window, quickly squirting the parents away with a waterspray, sending a kiss through the window, which quickly brings the parents back etc". Please do not put pressure on the child or yourself! After the autumn holidays we will have a short feedback discussion to see where we stand (farewell ceremony of parents and child, access of the leader to the child) .Afterwards we will look further where the child still needs support to experience the playgroup morning positively. Keep in mind children can cry from time to time when saying goodbye, all year round ''. Just as we adults are not always in a good mood, so are the children. It is normal and is lovingly received by us playgroup teachers. We always call if the child does not come to rest and has to cry for a long time. A cuddly toy, dummy, comfort blanket or other personal child treasures can help with the farewell from the parents and are very welcome (please do not bring other personal toys into the playgroup!). Please do not promise the child any rewards if he or she stays in the playgroup.
The first trial day takes place before the official admission.
Course of the 1st day The parents accompany the child to the play group. At home, it would be helpful if the parents would inform the children that there will be a farewell. If the parents and the leader feel that the child has arrived at the moment, the first separation takes place. The parents say goodbye and come back at 11.30 am. (The time span is individual. The separation can take place after 10min or after 20min, the parents and the leader decide together). If the child still has problems with the separation after a few minutes, we call the parents.
Course of the 2nd day Variant no.1: as procedure on the 1st day Variant no.2: The parents bring the child to the playgroup and the farewell is given.
As soon as the child has finished settling in, we ask the parents to say goodbye to the children at the entrance in front of the group room. Please do not come into the group room, as the children's group plays actively there, carries out activities and a lot of adults running around and talking in between are disturbing.
